Demietrice Brown

Director

Demietrice Brown serves as Director of Legacy Communities Development Group, bringing more than 20 years of experience advocating for individuals, families, and communities facing complex social and economic challenges. Throughout her career, she has worked extensively with individuals impacted by mental health challenges, substance use disorders, housing instability, and other barriers to long-term success. As a Qualified Professional in the behavioral health field, she has dedicated her career to connecting people with the resources, support, and opportunities they need to build healthier, more stable lives.

Ms. Brown earned her bachelor’s degree from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, where she established the educational foundation for a career centered on leadership, service, and community empowerment. Her professional experience has been defined by a commitment to strengthening individuals, supporting families, and developing collaborative solutions that address the unique needs of underserved communities.

Her leadership is deeply rooted in both professional expertise and personal purpose. Following the tragic loss of her grandson, Nygil M. Cullins, during a mental health crisis involving law enforcement, Ms. Brown became even more dedicated to advancing awareness, advocacy, and access to compassionate, trauma-informed support. His memory continues to inspire her work to improve outcomes for individuals and families while promoting systems that prioritize dignity, understanding, and early intervention.

As Director of Legacy Communities Development Group, Ms. Brown provides strategic leadership, program development, and community engagement in support of the organization’s mission to create safe, affordable, and sustainable housing communities. She works closely with community partners, local organizations, and stakeholders to foster collaborations that expand access to supportive resources, strengthen neighborhoods, and create opportunities for long-term stability and economic mobility.

Driven by compassion, resilience, and a lifelong commitment to service, Ms. Brown believes that strong communities are built through meaningful partnerships, equitable opportunities, and access to safe, stable housing. Through her leadership, she continues to advance Legacy Communities’ vision of creating vibrant communities where individuals and families are empowered to thrive for generations to come.
